Tribute to DJ Mister Cee

DJ Mister Cee was Also known as “The Finisher,” Cee was a DJ, broadcaster, record executive, and radio personality. DJ, broadcaster, record executive, and radio personality, and is widely considered to be a pioneering figure in hip hop.
This Brooklyn-born DJ started his career when he was a DJ for Big Daddy Kane. From there in the early 1990s, he gained popularity as a radio DJ, showcasing the music of rising artists. His radio shows Throwback at Noon and Friday Night Live on Hot 97, where he showcased his encyclopedic knowledge of hip-hop and skills behind a turntable. During his 21 years at “Hot 97,” during this time he notably discovered hip-hop legend The Notorious B.I.G. and eventually became the associate executive producer on Biggie’s debut album, Ready to Die, and helped launch the careers of Jay Z, 50 Cent, and Alicia Keys, among others.
Cee also became a member of The Flip Squad, which included Mark Ronson and was referenced in Jay-Z’s Death of Autotune. He was one of the first DJs to play Fetty Wap’s “Trap Queen” in 2014, helping launch the rapper’s career. Aside from his contributions in music, Mister Cee also helped develop a new flavor called “Island Punch Finisher” for Tropical Fantasy soft drinks. In 2008, the video game Grand Theft Auto IV featured a realistic Mister Cee character on a rap radio station titled “102.7, the Beat”.
In 2020, Mister Cee became the host of Sirius XM’s “The Set It Off Show” on LL Cool J’s Rock The Bells Radio and the “Throwback at Noon” show on “94.7 The Block. “and held both positions until his death.
His send off was the Paramount Theatre downtown Brooklyn, New York.
