This Brooklyn-born DJ started his career when he was a DJ for Big Daddy Kane. From there in the early 1990s, he gained popularity as a radio DJ, showcasing the music of rising artists. His radio shows Throwback at Noon and Friday Night Live on Hot 97, where he showcased his encyclopedic knowledge of hip-hop and skills behind a turntable. During his 21 years at “Hot 97,” during this time he notably discovered hip-hop legend The Notorious B.I.G. and eventually became the associate executive producer on Biggie’s debut album, Ready to Die, and helped launch the careers of Jay Z, 50 Cent, and Alicia Keys, among others.
